These cylinder kits feature an enhanced design piston. The compression ratio has been increased from 15:1 to 16:1. This alteration to the original piston ensures better engine start-up and overall performance. It has been tested and proven. This upgrade can be made to your D179 engine with no negative long term aspects or abnormal wear. Also, this rebuild kit comes standard with rod bearings that have a Right Side Locating Tang. Please see photo to ensure that this matches your style. Some of the later model engines featured connecting rods that required bearings with Left Side Locating Tang.
